The Gameframe, a hybrid software infrastructure solution that runs Taikodom, is a perfect combination of a mainframe's effectiveness with the stunning graphic processing capacity of CELL chips. The technology developed in partnership with IBM is a breakthrough in the segment of massive online games. It allows a greater flexibility, scalability and, more importantly, stability in the several thousands simultaneous transactions and simulations. All this qualities, allied to an endless upgrade capacity, cause the Gameframe to be the best machine in the planet when it comes to running MMOs.
Instead of using the server cluster technology like the other games, which put players apart in duplicated worlds that do not communicate with each other, Hoplon followed a new and innovative direction. The company invested in a technology combining a System z10 IBM mainframe with a CELL chip cluster, same processors of the Playstation 3. This Hoplon-IBM marriage made of Taikodom a global example of innovation, taking Hoplon directors to several international conferences where they talked about their experiences with this brand new technology.
The System z10 power capacity is of approximately 1500 X86 servers. It represents an 85% energy economy and is 85% more compact.
